Carse surprises in "showdown" that wasn't, at State javelin competition

PR THROW: Lacy Carse emerged from the ranks to take second place in the javelin for Lyle-Wishram.. The Lady Cougars put three throwers on the podium, but couldn't come home with gold.

Lyle-Wishram brought home 10 medals from the State 1B track and field meet, last weekend, but they didn't get the one everyone expected. The Lady Cougars dominated javelin all year, but a perfect throw at the perfect time by Ryan Anderson, of Wishkah Valley sucked the wind out of the event and left Lyle-Wishram's girls with a tough mountain to climb.

Anderson wasn't a total dark horse. She had thrown beyond 118-feet this year and was eighth and fourth at State the past two years. But, MaeLynn Luke was coming off her PR 122-6 throw at Regionals and Alex Cloud was two-inches shy of her 121-3 PR at Regionals.
