Hatchery adult spring chinook must be released on upper Klickitat River

 


The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced that a portion of the upper Klickitat River is closed to retention of hatchery adult spring chinook, effective from July 14 thoguh July 31.

The location affected is from posted markers above Klickitat Salmon Hatchery (approximately river mile 42.6) to about five miles downstream at Summit Creek Bridge (river mile 37.4). The area will continue to be open for harvest of hatchery jack spring chioon and hatchery steelhead. The sport fishing regulations are unchanged from the WDFW fishing pamphlet.

The temporary restriction is needed to allow more adult hatchery chinook to enter the hatchery. The goal of 500 fish for the facility has...
