The Goldendale Sentinel - Headlines & History since 1879

WANTED: SPORTS REPORTER WITH LARGE FEET (to fill big shoes)

SCORE: Retirement 1, Newspaper 0. Game over. After nine years, our ace sports writer is retiring. It’s time to move someone up from Triple A into the pros, and so The Goldendale Sentinel seeks a full-time sports reporter to cover Goldendale School District and area sports and do some additional news reporting. Must know sports (duh) and Microsoft Word, must have a vehicle and no problem with driving to cover out-of-town sports events, must be unfailing at meeting deadlines—and must be a really good writer. The candidate will either know how to use Quark Xpress or be able to learn it quickly; he or she will do production on their own sports pages.

Biggest thing: cover the students in the school district like they’re pros. Treat them like pros, write about them like pros, respect them like pros. Cover trainings and the games, win or lose, but always cover them like they were in the majors.

Pay is dependent on experience. It’s a salaried position.
