Time to clean House

 


To the Editor:

Our Congressional Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler wrote on May 12, 2016: “While the health impacts of a Zika outbreak would be staggering, so would be the financial impacts—the lifetime cost of caring for each child born with microcephaly could exceed $10 million. The time to invest this money is now. I’ve already voted to meet the Administration’s $1.9 billion request.”

Not true. Jaime Herrera Beutler did not vote for $1.9 billion in funding. In fact, the Republicans in Congress only voted on a bill to fund Zika for $622 million in funds diverted from Ebola work with additional features which included, allowing pesticides in water ways, defunding Planned Par...
