Police encourage licenses for dogs

The Goldendale Police Department would like to remind dog owners (of animals six months or older) within city limits to purchase their 2017 dog licenses. Dogs six months or older must have a current rabies vaccine. The cost is $10 per dog that is spayed or neutered, or $50 per unfixed dog. For senior citizens, the fixed-dog cost is $7.50. You are required to have your dogs licensed no later than March 31. There is a $10 late fee.

Chief Reggie Bartkowski says dog licenses become extremely important when your dog gets away from you. The license gives city police a way of contacting you and reuniting you with your dog, instead of impounding it. If your dog is impounded, there is a $30 impound fee and $10 daily boarding fee. Those fees add up quickly!

In addition, there is a fine of $87.50 for any city dog that isn’t licensed.
