Local police asked to consider ACLU approach

ACLU National Political Director Faiz Shakir presented the nine "freedom city" rules to a crowd in Miami on March 11. Klickitat County law enforcement will be asked to adopt the rules at a March 29 meeting in White Salmon.

Should local law enforcement adopt recommendations from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)? That's the subject of an upcoming public forum with the Klickitat County Sherriff's Office and city police chiefs. The meeting is scheduled for March 29 at 5 p.m. in the White Salmon Pioneer Center.

Up for discussion are nine "freedom city" rules, described by ACLU National Political Director Faiz Shakir as intended to "defend our friends, neighbors and families from [President Donald Trump's] mass deportation agenda." The rules can be read in full at peoplepower.org.
