Women's Club thanks Comfort Case donors

April 19, 2017

The Glenwood community’s newest resident, Sophia Jolie Bensel, was born at 8:36 a.m. last Thursday to Sarah and Jason Bensel. Sweet little Sophia weighed y pounds, 13 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Her big sister, Bella, and big brother, Gavin, are thrilled to have this tiny new little sister to spoil. Congratulations, Bensel family.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Pine Vista Park last Saturday was enjoyed by many young children and their parents. Allison McFall was an excellent Easter Bunny as she handed out candy and posed for photos with the children. The Glenwood Women’s Club has hosted this annual event for many decades and it is always a lot of fun.

Don’t forget Friday night bingo Friday night, April 21. The fun will begin at the Grange Hall at 7 p.m. Bring family and friends and come join us. Refreshments will be served.

Here’s a reminder that school will be dismissed at noon next Wednesday, April 26. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held that day.

Members of the Glenwood Women’s club are heartened by the generosity of so many who have contributed to the Comfort Cases project. They would like to thank all those who generously donated to the collection jars placed in the Glenwood General Store and Glenwood Station. And they also want to express their appreciation to the General Store and Station for allowing them to place the jars and bring awareness to the project. Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River donated books and Trout Lake residents Darlene and Ken Presler donated a box full of backpacks and many items to put in the packs. Thank you, everyone for your kindness and generosity.

Women’s Club president Carla Dillenburg will be delivering the first 30 comfort cases to the Department of Family and Children’s Services this week. These comfort cases will ease transitions for children being placed in new foster homes or homeless children who need so many basic items. Thank you again, everyone, for supporting this very worthwhile, ongoing project.
