Subscriber shames scammers

 


Tax season may be over, but IRS phone scams are still going strong, according to Sentinel reader Keith Thompson.

On April 28, Thompson received a pre-recorded message advising him the IRS was filing suit against him, and that he should immediately call (540) 205-1832 to address the matter.

Incensed, Thompson decided he would call. The voice that answered had a heavy accent, and Thompson could hear snatches of a foreign language in the background—telltale signs he was speaking to a bona fide IRS agent.
