Live music pulling in to the Glenwood Station

August 9, 2017

The Glenwood Station will have live music on Friday, Aug. 11, from 6 – 10 p.m. The band CSG will provide great music and the restaurant will be staying open later for this special occasion.

The annual Dream Roll, hosted by Mt. Adams Lodge, will bring many visitors on motorcycles into Glenwood on that weekend. Please use extra caution on area roads. Because of the many visitors, the Glenwood Station will be open for breakfast both Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11 and 12.

Also, here’s another reminder of the August prime rib dinner at the Glenwood Station on Saturday, Aug. 19. It’s hard to beat the delicious prime rib served up by the staff at the Station.

Mt. Adams 4-H sewing club secretary Jayla Avila reports that members participated in a style review on Aug. 4, modeling and displaying their sewing projects. As of this writing, we don’t have final results, but we do know the girls did very well and earned some top ribbons. If you get a chance to attend the Klickitat County Fair August 24-27, be sure to check out their sewing projects in the exhibit hall. We know that at least one of the girls received a Judge’s Choice award. Good job, girls.

Summer is slipping by so quickly. High school volleyball practice begins Aug. 21, with Jaecee Hoctor returning as coach of the Klickitat/Glenwood combined team. Middle school practice, with coach Sarah McFall, begins on the first day of school, Aug. 30.

Has anybody noticed it’s been a little hot lately? We’ve had a long, dry spell of weather. Doug Daniels reports that, as we already knew, July’s precipitation was zero. The high July precipitation over the last 22 years of record keeping was 1.3 inches in 2000. The July low over that same period was, of course, zero, in 2006, 2008, and 2010, in addition to this year. The July average is .29 inches. Thanks again, Doug, for keeping these statistics for us.
