Fencing for fun and profit in the county

This is the second part of Sandra DeMent’s commentary on the bureaucratic and logistical mayhem she encountered erecting a fence around her property in Klickitat County.
By late March the snow melted enough for the archeologists to come up and dig 13 holes along the fence line. Another week passed before I got a copy of their 50 page report: they found nothing. But a 30-day waiting period began for interested parties to comment on nothing. No fence-building could begin until the 30 day period ended meaning I had to wait until early May to start building my fence. (The Conservation District paid thousands of dollars for this state-mandated survey…um, Gov. Inslee?)
