Fall Bazaar is coming up

September 13, 2017

The Glenwood/Klickitat high school volleyball team played the Goldendale JV team in Klickitat last Friday night. They did quite well, winning three out of five games. The team had planned to participate in the Stevenson Jamboree last week, but it was canceled due to the wildfires in the Gorge.

Last week we mentioned that Glenwood youngsters Anthony Avila and Gavin Bensel are playing on White Salmon teams in the Youth Football League. We also learned that Frank Lorton is playing in the Goldendale Youth Football league. They are having a great time and making many new friends. We wish them all a great football season.

Four other young Glenwood athletes have been participating in horse playdays at the Posse Grounds arena in White Salmon. Joslyn and Blaine Arnold and Jocee and Jentry Hoctor have had a fun summer, competing in various events with their horses while making many new friends. Their final play day of the season was postponed from Sept. 10 to Sept. 24, due to the air quality concerns in the Gorge. We wish these cowgirls and cowboy luck as they get ready to wrap up their season.

We are saddened to learn of the recent passing of Mary Lee Finn, mother of Lonnie Dean. Our condolences go out to Lonnie and Jim Dean and all Mrs. Finn’s family.

Don't forget the upcoming Glenwood Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 14. Sign up for a table to sell your woodworking, quilting, sewing, photography cooking, crafts, and whatever else you might like to sell. There is no charge for a table. There will be breakfast and lunch goodies for sale.

Proceeds from the kitchen will go to the Glenwood Band to purchase percussion instruments. Please come support the band. These kids have really been getting into their music under the direction of Jennifer Hallenbeck, and your support would be greatly appreciated. To reserve a table, contact Jennifer at (509) 364-3517 or jhallenbeck@gorge.net

For those who may not have seen this news in the local papers, the West End Sheriff’s Office at the Pioneer Center in White Salmon is now open five days a week, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

School will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
