Bingo-it's Friday the 13th

October 11, 2017

The Women’s Club is hosting the October bingo night at the Grange Hall on Friday, Oct. 13. Don’t let the date scare you off. This Friday the 13th will be a fun one. Bring your family and friends and come on out, win a few prizes and enjoy some refreshments.

Our young Glenwood football players have a few more games left and would sure enjoy having Glenwood fans come out to support them. On Saturday, Oct. 14, Gavin Bensel plays at 9 a.m. Frank Lorton plays at 10:30 a.m., and Anthony Avila plays at noon in White Salmon. Gavin and Anthony also play in White Salmon on Oct. 21 with the same game time for both boys. Frank plays in Goldendale on Oct. 21 at 1:30 p.m. The championship game is in Goldendale on Oct. 28, and we’ll post that game time in next week’s news.

Here’s one last reminder of the Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 14. Get a head start on your Christmas shopping with great choices from a long list of vendors. Breakfast and lunch goodies will be available for sale. Proceeds from the kitchen will go to the Glenwood Band to purchase percussion instruments. Please come support the band. These kids have really been getting into their music under the direction of Jennifer Hallenbeck, and your support would be greatly appreciated. To reserve a table, contact Jennifer at (509) 364-3517 or

This is the time of year when cattle are coming down from the range and getting ready to settle in for winter. Our area roads are included in Open Range, so it’s up to us drivers to use caution and be aware that cattle may be on or near our roads.

Adventure Club for kindergarten through fifth grade began Oct. 4 at the church. Adventure Club will be held every Wednesday after school from 3 to 4:30 p.m., or 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. on half days. Registration forms are available at the church and post office.

Last week we reported that Todd French is seeking donations to purchase new flags to replace those that need to be retired. Donation envelopes are available at the Glenwood General Store and Glenwood Station. Todd is retiring four flags, and anyone who wishes to have the retired flags is welcome to have them. Let Todd know through facebook or leave word at the store. Thanks again, Todd, for helping our community show its spirit.

The Glenwood High School Associated Student Body is sponsoring Socktober throughout the entire month of October. This is an easy and fun way to help those in need. The students are collecting pairs of brand new socks, with a goal of at least 100 pairs. A collection box has been placed just inside the office door. Please drop off sock donations there or send them with your children. Your help in this very worthwhile effort is greatly appreciated.

The Klick-Wood girls are playing at home in Klickitat against Yakama Tribal Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. The middle school Eagles girls will play here in Glenwood against Centerville on Monday at 5:30 p.m. The middle school tournament will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18 in Klickitat. Games begin at 4 p.m.

Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
