Help get Lyle representation

October 11, 2017

It may seem as though this is repetitive, but those who believe that Lyle needs representation in our county should step up to the plate and show commitment. The group that is trying to reignite the Lyle Community Council is having a workshop this coming Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Lyle School multi-purpose room, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m.—menu to be determined, and potluck side dishes and/or desserts are encouraged but not required. This upcoming workshop will feature Kristine Mier speaking on the ins and outs of decision-making, and a decision will be made on whether to move forward with a community council or not.

There’s time for Mom to create that one-of-a-kind, super-duper, prize winning costume for the contest at Dallesport’s Halloween Bash! Along with those prizes there will be games and treats for everyone. So get prepared and join the fun being held at their Community Center, Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m. That’s still gives time for kids (of all ages) to make their rounds of the neighborhood to gather all the goodies after ringing the bell and yelling, “Trick or Treat.” Now let’s not leave out those over 21—on Oct. 27, the Lyle Hotel is planning a party featuring the Grateful Growlerz band along with a costume party of their own.

A reminder about the poetry and essay contest for Klickitat County youth ages 12 – 20. The theme: “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.” This is a quote from Baha’u’llah. What is unity? What does it look like? Where have you seen it? How can it have an impact in the world? How can you personally create unity in your neighborhood or home? These questions are prompts to help you collect your thoughts into prose or poetry. Essays must be between 250 - 500 words. Poetry must be a minimum of three verses. Submissions must be received by Oct. 15, 2017. Send submissions to bahaiklickitat@gmail.com or PO Box 213, Lyle, WA 98635. And—there are cash prizes for the first, second and third place winners. This contest is sponsored by the Baha’is of Klickitat County gorgebahais.org. Questions: call Rene Weiler at (509) 281-0477.
