Energy project gets a fresh look

A report by Pete Danko in the Portland Business Journal of Oct. 26 states that Goldendale’s quixotic quest for a massive energy storage project may still see the light of day. The report is confirmed by KPUD General Manager Jim Smith in an interview with Sentinel contributor and Gorge Country Media News Director Rodger Nichols.

A company called Rye Development, self-described as the largest developer of new hydropower in the country, has applied for a federal permit for the Goldendale Energy Storage Project, the Journal reports. Rye considers the $2 billion project worthy of serious consideration despite enormous challenges.
