Lynal Gale Grassman, 85, passed away at the Oregon Veterans’ Home in The Dalles, Oregon on October 16, 2017. He was born in Marshall, Oklahoma, on May 21, 1932 to John and Zula (Scott) Grassman. Lynal was raised in Oklahoma and enlisted in the United States Army. He retired from the Army after 25 years, then worked on the Northern Slope in Alaska on the pipeline and later the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, from which he retired.

Mr. Grassman married Evelyn Joann “Jo” Hess on August 28, 1999 in Seabeck, Washington. Lynal was a member of the motorcycle club ABATE—motorcycles were his life and love, right after Jo. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Grassman is survived by his wife, Jo, of Goldendale; daughter Dawn Furcht and her husband Rich of Dallas, Texas; daughter Melissa Craft of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son Mark Grassman and his wife Janet of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Heather and her husband Billy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sister Phyllis Hall of McKinney, Texas; his brother Hank and his wife Sharon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his brother Forrest and his wife Nancy of Ohio; and his brother John and his wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and by his step-children, Theresa Gardner and her husband John of Goldendale; John Dalzell of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Michael Hess and his wife Tammy of Bayview, Idaho; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Lance Grassman, his brother Loren Grassman and his brother-in-law Ted Hall.
