Sophomore Kaitlynn Spino, left, and Mariah Houston battle for a ball at the net during the teams' meeting on Oct. 3 in Klickitat.

The Klickwood (Klickitat and Glenwood) spikers wrapped up their regular season and are ready for the chance to advance to districts.

The team plays Yakama Tribal today at 6 p.m. at Goldendale High School and then gets glued to a team from District 4 on Saturday depending on where they finish in Greater Columbia Gorge League standings.

Klickwood went 3-0 against the Yakama Tribal Eagles this season, winning in four sets on Sept. 12 and Sept. 26 and sweeping on Oct. 12.

The Vandals/Eagles enter Wednesday's game after winning in four sets against Lyle-Wishram last Thursday and falling in four sets during the team's annual alumni game on Saturday.

The Cougars were able to pick up a win in the first set last week, but Klickwood rallied to take the final three sets (16-25, 25-14, 26-24, and 25-23) throughout the match.

"They had great intensity and worked together as a team to get the win," Klickwood head coach Jaecee Hoctor said in an email. "They were fun to watch."

Klickwood had great serving and great passing against the Cougars, who have made big leaps throughout the season.

Junior Kinley Troh served a perfect 25 for 25 while adding 15 assists and five aces, sophomore Brooklyn Emerson finished with 11 kills, four blocks and three aces, while senior Madi Couch added 10 kills and two aces and plenty of good passes.

For the Cougars, Alex Miller did a little of everything with four aces, five digs, three kills, three blocks, and five perfect passes. Tiffani Back and Mariah Houston combined for 13 assists, and Amber Tompkins led the way with 13 kills, eight blocks, three perfect passes, and three aces.
