Middle schooler Cuevas takes second in Vegas tournament

November 1, 2017

Goldendale’s Joey Cuevas just missed out on returning to Washington as a Freak Show champion over the weekend. A Freak Show of Amateur Wrestling Champion that is.

The Goldendale Middle School eighth grader, competing with the BadBoy Wrestling Club out of Toppenish, finished runner-up in the 12 and under 82-pound class on Oct. 21 and 22 at the Freak Show of Amateur Wrestling Tournament held at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Cuevas was among more than 3,000 total grapplers with age groups ranging from six and under to 18 and up high school competitors. There were wrestlers from 40 states represented over the weekend in Vegas.
