Kids on clean-up patrol

The Glenwood Women’s Club members held their annual Christmas party luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Good fun, good food, and good visiting were enjoyed by all. Our most senior member, Hazel Parsons, will be celebrating her 90th birthday later this month. She was honored with a red velvet birthday cake and a rendition of “Happy Birthday” by all the ladies. Hazel is a treasure to the Women’s Club and the Glenwood community.

Klickwood boys’ and girls’ basketball teams traveled to Helix, Oregon, for a tournament on Dec. 21 and 22. The boys defeated Helix by one point on Thursday, while the girls lost to Sunnyside Christian JV. Friday the Klickwood girls defeated Condon and the boys lost to the Condon boys’ team. Sounds like the games were exciting and Klickwood made a good showing.

Now that Glenwood school is on Christmas break, the children in Glenwood are finding various activities to fill their free time. Two little sisters, Jocee and Jentry, spent part of their first day of Christmas break picking up trash along the 1/4-mile stretch of BZ-Glenwood highway they have claimed as their responsibility. Those little girls gathered several pounds of trash on their round trip, then hurried back inside to have hot cocoa. Good job, girls.

Looking ahead into 2018, Glenwood Rodeo Association members are reminded of the first meeting of the year, to be held on Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Grange Halle. Election of officers, 2018 rodeo planning, and Queen Kylie’s silent auction are on the agenda. Refreshments will be served.

We wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2018.
