Cougs RB Montoya gets All- State nod

December 27, 2017

BRUISING BACK: Brandon Montoya breaks a tackle during Lyle-Wishram's win over Goldendale on Sept. 18 at Barthlow Field.

Lyle-Wishram standout running back Brandon Montoya was the driving force behind the Cougars legendary gridiron team this past football season. Late last week, the sophomore from Wishram was voted as one of the top running backs in the entire state among Class 2B schools, earning First Team All-State honors after an incredible season. A threat to score every time he touches the ball no matter what yard line the offense is on, Montoya found the endzone easy and often last season. He finished the season with 25 total touchdowns, rushing for 21, receiving three, and returning a kick for a score in the state game against Liberty. See next week's Sentinel for a more informative story.
