Way to go, Klickwood

February 14, 2018

The Klickwood girls’ and boys’ basketball teams ended their season last weekend with losses to Sunnyside Christian and Trout Lake in the double elimination District tournament. While the players may feel a little disappointed that their season came to an end, we hope they take pride in their strong team playing all season long. Those teams never gave up, whether the scores were far apart or close. They gained so much strength in their skills this season, we all feel they’ll really be strong forces in league play next season. To top off their season, senior Kinley Troh and freshman Nahaleigh Schuster were named to the All Opponent girls’ team and Easton Atchley received that honor for the boys’ All Opponent team. Klickwood, your communities are very proud of you all for the drive and determination you displayed throughout the season. A big thank you to the coaches, as well, for all the time and dedication they gave to the teams.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Tom Arnold. Tom lived in Husum but was well known in Glenwood and around the county. Our deepest condolences to Ed and Terry Arnold, Casey and Bo Arnold, Pinky Holly, and the extended Arnold family. Tom was very respected and admired and will be greatly missed.

School will be dismissed at noon on Thursday, Feb. 15th. There will be no school on Friday the 16th or Monday the 19th, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday.

Here’s another reminder of Glenwood Ketchum Kalf Rodeo Queen Kylie’s official coronation. The fun event will be Saturday, March 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The coronation, held in the Fort Dalles Riders Clubhouse will feature lunch for $10 per person and a silent auction with an amazing collection of items. Queen Kylie is raising money to help with expenses as she travels to rodeos and special community events in the Columbia Gorge area this year, representing the Ketchum Kalf Rodeo.

We’re reporting this one more time, because it’s of value to Glenwood alumni presently attending college or trade school. The Glenwood Homemakers are pleased to offer a Continuing Education Scholarship again this year. This scholarship is for $500 and is open to anyone (except 2017 graduates) who has been a Glenwood resident for at least two years or whose primary residence is Glenwood, has at least 12 post-secondary credit hours and will be attending an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or trade school at least half-time this coming spring. Deadline to apply is February 28. To request an application packet, please contact Chris Miller at (509) 364-3427 or cmillerqmr@gmail.com.
