Comfort Cases to be collected

A week of hard work paid off well as the Glenwood elementary and middle school students presented their lively production of Aladdin to a large audience last Friday night. This version of the show, under the direction of two members of the Missoula Children’s Theater, was unlike any we had heard, seen, or read. It was very funny and entertaining, and the students did an excellent job. The play, preceded by a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings, made for a great evening of dinner theater in our little community.

Just a reminder, the Glenwood Women’s Club donation jars for the Comfort Cases project for foster and homeless children in Klickitat County will be collected from the various businesses on March 11. If you would like to contribute to this very important cause, there is still time. The Women’s Club is grateful for all the community support.

Most of you received notice of an upcoming power outage. For those who didn’t, the PUD will be shutting off our power at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, until approximately 9 a.m. Sunday, March 11. This is also the weekend to “spring forward” to Daylight Savings Time. Don’t forget to set your clocks to daylight savings time—when the power comes back on.

School will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday, March 14. The annual chili cook-off and spelling bee will be held at the school on Thursday, March 15. Come enjoy a chili dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m., followed by the spelling bee at 6 p.m.

Doug Daniels reports that we received a total 2.42 inches of rain in February. The February high for the last 23 years of record-keeping was 10.7 inches in 1999. The 23-year low was 0.8 inches in 2005, and the 23-year average was 3.64. Thanks, Doug, for providing these rainfall statistics for the community.
