Pete Lee Classic; Enstad top gross at kick-off

Attending the 10th annual Pete Lee Memorial Classic Golf Clinic was Pete Lee's brother and family from Portland.

Thirty Goldendale Golf Club members and students from the high school golf team were able to have a golf swing analysis with PGA professional Jeff Bender and Trackman sponsored by the Lee family.

Golf season is now in full swing with Tuesday night scramble and Wednesday night league, while ladies day and men's night are on Thursdays.

The Lowell Erland Scholarship Tournament will be held on May 19. Inquire about these activities and golf lessons with Goldendale PGA pro Keith Johnson at the golf course.

The Lowell Erland Scholarship Tournament will be in its 29th year and the funds generated from the tournament go toward scholarships for high school seniors.

Kick-Off

The club kicked off its spring season with the Member Kick-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon, with 30 members competing among the two flights.

For the first flight, Brian Enstad came away as the top gross finisher, shooting an 80 over 18 holes on the par 72 course. Bill Payne, with his 18-hole total of 83, finished just behind Enstad with the second lowest gross total.

Richard McCulley had the top net score among all golfers from the first flight, finishing with a 70. Chuck Thomas was the net runner-up after his round of 72 while Richard Marshall was third with a net total of 74.

For the second flight, Bob Moco was the top gross golfer, shooting a 97 with Nancy Beyerlin taking second with a gross score of 104.

Bud Wall (77), Janet Smith (83), and Clark Zigler (84) were the top three net finishers in the second flight.

Enstad, along with his top gross finish among all golfers on Saturday, had the longest putt. Ray Clift and Ted Wilkins won the closest to the pin contests on holes No. 4 and No. 13 respectively.
