Man Killed in accident

A 60-year-old man died at an Oregon hospital after his motorcycle and a car collided about 10 miles north of town, Washington State Patrol reported.

Mark L. (Merek) Hodges of Goldendale died at Legacy Emanual Medical Center in Portland after the 12:38 p.m. accident Saturday on US Highway 97, authorities said.

According to reports, both Hodges and Cassandra Humphrys, 23, of Richland were both northbound on 97 on a stretch of road with a passing lane. Both vehicles were in the far right lane until they reached the passing lane. At the passing lane stretch, Hodges pulled into the left passing lane to pass Humphrys. Humphrys was still in front of Hodges when she turned left from the far right lane. The vehicles then collided, authorities said.

State Patrol noted that Hodges was wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
