City celebrates Older American Month

Back in 1982, the City of Goldendale under then Mayor C. G. Forry gave the senior citizens and Barbara Ross, then Director of Klickitat County Senior Services, a Certificate of Appreciation for the gift of time that the volunteers give to the community of Goldendale.

At that time, Goldendale then was honored to celebrate May as "Older American Month," and last Thursday at the Senior Center, a large group gathered for lunch to celebrate the community's senior citizens.

May 17 also happened to be National Cherry Cobbler Day and the desert was distributed to all the seniors before they were served lunch.
