I hope everyone had a fun Halloween, and I know you did, if you attended the General Store’s Trunk or Treat in Goldendale on Saturday. We were delighted to have the opportunity to give out candy, since we live out of town. There was a big crowd of people in costume, kids games, music by Rainier Billingsley, and candy being given out of every spooky trunk for almost two blocks on both sides of Main Street. I talked to a Goldendale policeman on the scene and he said there has never been an incident due to Trunk or Treat and he thought Trunk or Treat was a good thing for Goldendale.

The Goldendale Chamber of Commerce will have the Chamber Forum Luncheons on Thursdays at The Glass Onion Restaurant for November. On Nov. 3, the Chamber will host Century Link with Cathy Myszkowski and Peggy Packer.

KLCK Talk Shows for this coming week will be Klickitat County Sheriff, Rick McComas on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 9 a.m., and for next Tuesday, Nov. 8, will be one of our local dentists, Doctor Lyle Ferch.

It’s time to turn your clocks back an hour on either Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 a.m., or Saturday night, before you go to bed. Enjoy an extra hour of sleep.

There will be two more grant-funded classes sponsored by Klickitat County at the PUD meeting room. The Nov. 9 class, called, “Where are all the Customers” will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Nov. 10 class will also be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and it is called “Pricing strategies and cash flow management to keep your business afloat”. Please call the Small Business Development Center at Columbia Gorge Community College at (541) 506-6120 to pre-register.

Please vote by Nov. 8. We are fortunate to have the courthouse here in town to hand-deliver our ballot as well as another drop site behind K.C. Pharmacy. Or, of course, you can mail it and have it postmarked by Nov. 8.

The Goldendale Home and Garden Show 2012 is in need of sponsors. Sponsorship makes it possible to continue to offer low cost booth space. Sponsorship enables your business to be recognized and to stand out as a substantial contributor to the Goldendale Home and Garden Show. For information about sponsorship, call the Chamber at 773-3400 and leave a message for Julian.  The John Denver Tribute Artist, Ted Vigil, who was at our first show, will be with us again, singing all three days of the show next year, April 20-22.

There was an error in last week’s column. The corrected phone number for the Christmas Bazaar, set for Dec. 3 and 4, should read (509) 261-0782. Pick up your application at the Goldendale Chamber. The cost for a table is $10 for the two days.
