According to preliminary data received by NOAA’s National Weather Service in Pendleton Oregon, temperatures at Goldendale averaged warmer than normal during the month of September.
The average temperature was 62.3 degrees which was 3.3 degrees above normal. High Temperatures averaged 80.2 degrees, which was 3.8 degrees above normal. The highest was 96 degrees on the 2nd. Low temperatures averaged 44.4 degrees, which was 2.8 degrees above normal. The lowest was 36 degrees, on the 27th.
On five days, the temperature exceeded 90 degrees.
Precipitation totaled 0.16 inches during September, which was 0.37 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation -at least .01 inch- was received on 3 days with the heaviest, 0.07 inches reported on the 24th.
Precipitation this year has reached 8.72 inches, which is 1.17 inches below normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at Goldendale has been 12.58 inches, which is 4.64 inches below normal.
The outlook for October from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and above normal precipitation. Normal highs for Goldendale fall from 70.0 degrees at the start of October to 54.0 degrees at the end of October. Normal lows fall from 38.0 degrees to 31.0 degrees. The 30 year normal precipitation is 1.41 inches.
