Maynard (Easy Money) Williams Sr. passed away on September 15, 2021, in Wishram. Maynard was born on January 28, 1924, in LaCresent, Minnesota, to William and Alma Williams. He grew up on a farm with his three brothers and two sisters. He met Lenora Steele, and they were married in 1944 in Wakon, Iowa. Maynard moved out west shortly after. He bought property in Goldendale, and what was once an alfalfa field is now the homestead. The four-bedroom home Maynard and Lenora built for the family was lots of work while raising seven children.
Maynard worked building some of the dams like the Detroit Dam, The Dalles Dam, and the McNary Dam. He helped build many of the roads and highways we drive on today. He was a very good mechanic. He liked to go fishing and restore older vehicles. He loved debating politics and had an awesome sense of humor, which he passed along to all his kids.
Survivors include his daughters Sherri White of Goldendale, Diana Schelhorn of Goldendale, Sandra Roberts of Wishram, Patsy Burris of Wishram, and Pamela White of Goldendale; along with 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Lenora Williams; daughter Karen; his only son, Maynard (Fred) Williams the 2nd; his parents, William and Alma Williams; brothers Bob, George, and Clifford; as well as his sisters, Ruth and Fern.
