Twila Mesecher passed away January 24, 2021, at home in Goldendale.
Twila was born Twila Lo-Ell Niemela in Klickitat, Klickitat County, Washington, the daughter of Chester R. and Jayne Hoops Niemela.
She attended elementary school in both Klickitat and Goldendale and graduated the 12th grade in Klickitat in 1956. Twila attended one year at Central Washington College, where she met Dennis Gene Mesecher. Twila married Dennis on October 19, 1957, in Ellensburg, Washington. Dennis and Twila made Goldendale their home for 63 years of marriage.
Twila worked in an insurance home office in Seattle but preferred small-town friendliness. She attended beautician school in The Dalles, Oregon, became a licensed beautician, and soon owned and operated Mrs. T Beauty Salon in Goldendale for 10 years before retiring. Twila loved reading, the ocean beach, sewing, shopping, and a good time with her family and friends.
Twila was preceded in death by her father, “Chet” Niemela; her mother Jayne Niemela; and one son, Sanford G. "Sam" Mesecher. She is survived by her daughter, Merrilee J. Hansen, of Goldendale; her son, Cary D. (Katie) Mesecher, of Goldendale; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A loving memorial will celebrate Twila's life at a later date.
