Vera (Beth) Mileck Malychewski (Whitehill) of Goldendale passed away peacefully in her home on January 5th, 2022. She was 88 years old.
Born in Centerville on November 18, 1933, to Vera F. Lande and Everett LeRoy Whitehill, Vera was the youngest of three, preceded in death by her brothers, Pat and LeRoy Whitehill.
Beth’s family branches began from Finish immigrants Jacob and Lizzie Lande. Other family in the area included Dr. Bill Lande, Walter Lande, Aunt Mayme Lande Ahola and cousins Virginia Ahola Fahlenkamp, Anna June Ahola White, and Myrna Ahola Isaccson.
One of Beth’s favorite places to visit as an adult was her Aunt Merce Lande in Centerville.
Growing up in Centerville, Beth was a graduate of Goldendale High School and attended Eastern Washington University in Cheney. Beth was very active in school social life participating in Girls League, Glee, Cheer, Drill, and Pep Clubs.
Beth was married to Emil L. Mileck for 48 years and had a total of eight children. She retired from her career at the Fort Vancouver Regional library after 30 years and relocated back to Goldendale in her final years.
Beth’s greatest joys in life came from her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful, patient, and loving person. Beth enjoyed reading and learning. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She even tried her hand at reupholstering pieces of her furniture!
Beth is survived by sons Gary, Paul, David, and Presley, and daughters, Liz Anne and Gloria, 13 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. To some, she was a great-great-grandmother.
Beth relied on her faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord, God, and Savior to carry her through the storms in life. She was stalwart and resilient. Beth will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
