SO LONG, SHELL. HELLO, SINCLAIR: The Shell station on Columbus is changing to a Sinclair station. The Sentinel inquired about the reasons for the change but no response has been received. Reports do confirm that the station's staffing will remain as it is now; "We're happy with them," a spokeman said. But gone is Roman Pizza (another food vendor yet to be determined will take its place). Also gone are Shell fleet cards and the ability to utilize Fred Meyer reward points at the pump. But word is that prices at the station are likely to remain close to what Shell's prices were, which pleases many who note that Shell had the cheapest gas prices in town after the Shar-On closed. The total transformation will take place over the next few weeks. (Pacific Pride gas behind the Shell station remains unaffected by the change.)
