Pollution hearing this week in The Dalles


The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is holding a series of public hearings to gather public input on plans to clean up or shut down the Portland General Electric’s (PGE) coal-fired power plant in Boardman. One of the public hearings will take place on Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. at Columbia Gorge Community College.

“The aging PGE Boardman coal plant is a major source of air pollution in the Gorge during fall and winter months,” said Michael Lang, Conservation Director for Friends of the Columbia Gorge. “Its emissions threaten human health and the environment.
