David Woodruff



Lawrence David Woodruff, Jr., 61, died in The Dalles on Jan. 7, 2011.

David was born in Goldendale on Dec. 12, 1949, to Violet Bernice (Browning) and Lawrence David Woodruff Sr. He was raised in Wahkiacus, where he attended school. David worked as a mechanic and long haul truck driver. On Dec. 27, 2001, he married Cynthia Lea Kemp in Goldendale.

David enjoyed photography, coin collecting and target practice. He volunteered for Mt. Adams transportation, a job he loved, as he enjoyed meeting new people.

He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence David Woodruff, Sr. .; his father-in-law, Leo Olson and nephew Joseph Celaya.

He is survived by his wife Cindy of The Dalles; mother-in-law Ruthann Olson of Goldendale; mother Violet Woodruff of Wahkiacus; brothers, Lynn Woodruff and Cisco of Wahkiacus; sisters, Patti Heinrick of Okeene, Okla., Janice Cox of Wahkiacus, Roxie Cowart and Nancy Cox, both of The Dalles, Josie Celaya of Goldendale, Melody Woodruff-Minett of Wahkiacus, Marta Thomas of Brighton, Colo., Robin Sherman of Goldendale, and Sandy Baird of Washougal; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Jan. 10, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in The Dalles. Memorial contributions in David's name may be given to LDW Foundation c/o New Life Missions, PO Box 340, Okeene, OK 73763. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled cremation arrangements.
