May 11: -1751The Pennsylvania Hospital, America’s first, I founded. One week later it overcharges a patient, starting a long-standing medical tradition. 1792—In local history, U.S. Captain Robert Gray discovers and names the Columbia River. 2011—OK, this guy walks into a bar and asks the bartender for a “bin Laden” cocktail. The bartender asks, “What in heck is a ‘bin Laden’ cocktail?” and the guy replies, “It’s easy. It’s just two shots with a splash of water on the side.” Born: Irving Berlin. Minnesota Day.
