Coldest April on record, May likely colder too


Last month was the coldest April in recorded history in Goldendale, according to figures released last week from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service.

On average, high temperatures in April were almost nine degrees colder than normal for the month in this area.

The figures show that April 2011 had all of three days 60 degrees or higher, on April 2 and April 24 and April 25. The highest temperature in the month was 66 degrees on April 2.

The overall average temperature was 41.4 degrees, which was 5.7 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 52.4 degrees, which was 8.9 degrees below normal. Low temperatures averaged 30.5 degrees,...
