Nuisance ordinance aims at grass overgrowth

DOWNTOWN OVERGROWTH: Grass well over three feet high is growing at this location just off Columbus Avenue.

Like anyone who wants to get ready for company, Goldendale wants to spruce up.

“There are a lot of events coming up soon in Goldendale,” says City Manager Larry Bellamy. “There’s the bluegrass festival, Community Days, a whole string of things coming. A lot of people will be coming. We want to make as good an impression as we can.”

The city now has a new ordinance in effect that helps with that goal. It prohibits extremes of publicly unacceptable appearance, chiefly in the form of decrepit front yards and overgrown weeds and lawns.
