Bruce Myra



Bruce Arlen Myra died at his home in Goldendale on June 13, 2011 at the age of 64. 

He was born in Bagley, Minn. on Oct. 28, 1946 to Ruth Sophia (Hallin) and Palmer Gustav Myra. At the age of five, Bruce and his family moved to Goldendale where he was raised and educated, graduating from Goldendale High School in 1964. Bruce served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge from military service, Bruce continued his education at Central Washington University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree.

He married Janahn Ruth Kalista in Wasco, Ore., on Oct. 10, 1981. 

Bruce co-owned and operated Broadway Automotive in Goldendale for 35 years. Good quality work and respect of customers was a priority.  Having embraced the Catholic faith 13 years ago, Bruce was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion. Bruce loved being with his family, drag races, road trips and going to the beach. He enjoyed trying many different hobbies throughout his life. 

Survivors include his wife Janahn Myra of Goldendale; sons Traig Myra and his wife Mary of Goldendale, Shane Myra, and Bryce Myra; daughters Blaine Myra, and Marissa Myra all of Goldendale and Nannette McCann of Redmond; brother Dave Myra of Yakima; sister Carole Thayer of  Goldendale; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A funeral mass was held at on Monday, June 20 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Goldendale. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to the Myra family at
