Viva Musgrove



Viva Ruth (Simpson) Musgrove died at her home in Goldendale, on June 5, 2011 at the age of 93.

Viva Ruth Simpson was born in Tipperary, Iowa, on March 2, 1918 to Mabel (Storm) and Perry Simpson.

She married James Stanley Musgrove in Newton, Iowa, in 1932. Viva and her young family moved to Vancouver in 1944 and after the war relocated to Seattle, where they lived until retiring in Goldendale in 1994. Viva enjoyed keeping busy with arts and crafts such as sewing, quilting, knitting and painting. She also liked working in her greenhouse and loved the company of her dogs. Viva was active in her church, a member of the Rebekah Lodge and volunteered at the Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Louise King of Puyallup; Marjorie Dodd of Goldendale; Michael Musgrove of Iowa; James Musgrove and Stanley Musgrove both of Seattle; 22 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great, great- grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, in 1997, and children Martha Garner, Charles Musgrove and Janet Joleen Musgrove.

A funeral service was held June 8, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints followed by vault interment at Mt. View Cemetery in Goldendale. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
