Lady Timberwolves short circuit Lightning, place second in SCAC west, two seed at District tourney

DEPTH: One of Goldendale’s strengths is team depth. Kylie Montgomery and Bree Wanderscheid, below, can fill spots front and back for Goldendale. Both players played key roles in the win over LaSalle.

The Lady Timberwolves chose not to leave their fate to chance on Thursday as they secured the SCAC west second seed for the District tournament with a surprisingly easy win over LaSalle 25-20, 25-17, 25-18. The win meant Goldendale would host Columbia-Burbank in the first round of playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 1, whereas a loss might have put the Wolves in third place, headed on the road to Ki-Be. As it turned out, Zillah defeated Naches Valley, also on Thursday, so second place was bound to go to Goldendale.
