Taholah upsets Lyle-Wishram 24-22 in overtime win


Close games have not been kind to Lyle-Wishram football this year. Tahola derailed the Cougars’ playoff plans with a 24-22 overtime victory in Lyle last Friday. It was the second league loss for Lyle-Wishram, both coming in overtime games played in Lyle. The first was a loss to Mary M. Knight in another low-scoring affair, 20-14. The low scoring games were atypical for Lyle-Wishram. All three of the Cougars’ wins came in blowouts where they averaged 52.5 points per game.

Friday night, each team had their opportunity to end the game in regulation, but mistakes forced the game to overtime. The game came down to a failed two-point conversion, a tough way to lose a game.
