Ben Bush

Ben F. Bush, 93, died Oct. 31, 2011 of causes incidental to age.

Born on Sept. 14, 1918, in Seattle, to Frank and Addie Bush, Ben spent his childhood in the Portland area, and traveled the Pacific Northwest, California, and British Columbia extensively with his family. He was a retail business owner, operating stores in Mountain Home, Idaho, Goldendale, Grangeville, Orofino, and Lewiston, Idaho, and in Pasco.

Ben was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the occupational forces of post World War II Japan and at Ft. Lawton (Seattle) during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and a BPOE. In his younger years he enjoyed playing guitar with his band, the Story Strutters. He attributed his long and happy life to his daily walks and his loving wife.

Ben is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lela M. (Moline) Bush; children Nancy Birch, of Portland; Michael McKune (June), of Sherwood, Ore .; Bonnie Beeks (Jim), of Roosevelt; Terry McKune (Marilyn), of Goldendale; Darcy Taylor (Jerry), of Pocatello, Idaho; and Tracy Bush (Amanda), of Grangeville, Idaho, together with 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.
