Exorbitant premiums follow shortly thereafter. 1908—Grand Canyon National Monument is created about 200 million years after the Canyon was created. 1949—Los Angeles has its first recorded snowfall. 1964—United States Surgeon General Dr. Luther Leonidas Terry, M.D., issues a paper reporting the danger cigarettes pose to health.
