‘Hotline’: live radio talk show returns to Goldendale

ON THE AIR: Julian and Diana Notestine will host Hotline in Goldendale.

Remember the good old days when gas was under $3 per gallon and KLCK’s Hotline live call-in show was still on the air? Well, good news! No, gas is still expensive, but the latter is certainly back.

When KLCK 1400 AM closed its Goldendale studio and broadcasted only from The Dalles, they also discontinued their popular call-in talk show known as Hotline, which began in the spring of 1992. It continued to serve the Goldendale community until its last show on June 5, 2009.

“It was very missed when it was taken away,” stated Julian Notestine, one of the returning hosts.

Previously it was on Thursday and Friday mornings, but now it will broadcast every Wednesday morning, starting today, from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. right after Rodger Nichols’s news.

The hosts will be Kevin Malcolm at the Haystack Broadcasting station out of The Dalles, and Julian and Diana Notestine connecting from their home studio in Goldendale.

Kevin Malcolm hosts it at the same time in The Dalles.

The resurrection of the program is “all thanks to the owner Dan Mancui, general manager Shannon Milburn, and Josh Pool,” Diana stated.

The tradition of covering issues in the community with people being able to call in and state their opinions will continue. Listeners can also call in to buy, sell or trade items.

“They use it also to pass along community events,” explained Julian. “It is kind of a community melting pot type of program.”

Listeners can call (877) 773-5525 to call in to the live show. Only one call per person per day is permitted.

In addition, to coincide with this new 8:30 a.m. time slot, the Klickitat AM recorded talk show that airs every Tuesday and Thursday will move to a half hour earlier, from 9 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
