Clarence LeRoy Mains



Clarence LeRoy Mains, 79, of Bickleton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in Sunnyside.

Clarence was born on Nov. 10, 1932 in Glade, the son of Clarence McKinnly and Ruby A. (Sharpe) Mains. He graduated from Mabton High School in 1950. On Aug. 25, 1954 Clarence married Janet C. Wood in Grandview. He loved to farm dry land wheat until failing health forced him to retire. Clarence enjoyed hunting, especially elk hunting in the Blues with his buddies. For 35 years Clarence, friends and family could hardly wait for the first snow, so they could enjoy snowmobile trips to Bend, Ore. Clarence also enjoyed many short jaunts with his canine partner, Charlie. He was a member of the Glade Fire Department for many years.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Janet Mains of Bickleton; one son, Tony Mains (Adrienne) of Mabton/Prosser; one daughter, Deb Lambdin (Gary) of Grandview, one grandson, Nick Lambdin (Heidi) of Kennewick; one granddaughter, Juanita C. Mains of the Tri-Cities; two great-grandsons, Payton and Gavin Lambdin of Kennewick; one sister, Peggy McDow of Richland, one brother, Mike Brown (Carman) of Kennewick; sister-in-law, Diane Morris of Goldendale, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence M. Mains in 1939; mother, Ruby A. Brown 2006; brother, Robert L. Mains in 1996.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring, when his buddy, Jerry Price returns home.
