Firefighters work quickly to put out the fire in Jim Farrer's shop on NE 3rd Street early Wednesday afternoon.

A fire broke out in Jim Farrer’s shop on NE 3rd Street early afternoon last Wednesday.

The resident of the house next to the shop, that Farrer also owns, says he went outside and saw it was on fire.

After firefighters from Rural 7 and Goldendale Fire Department responded, NE 3rd Street was blocked off to all traffic for several hours.

The building was built in 1973, says Farrer, and he has owned it for 15 years. Antique cars are what occupied his shop, but now are sitting outside with obvious damage to the exteriors.

Farrer does not have any hope that they will be salvageable. When asked about the value of the cars, Farrer said, “Well, not too much anymore.”
