Council votes for west side improvement project with block grant

 


The west side of Goldendale could be seeing a facelift sooner rather than later. The City Council Tuesday approved the submission of an application to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for funding for a road project that would repair many broken down roads on the west side of Columbus Avenue.

In September of last year, the East Central Neighborhood Improvement Project (ECNIP) was finally deemed complete, with a total cost of about $2.5 million. This new project would be very similar to that.

The grant applied for was for $1 million and requires the city to match that fund with another $1 million. Entities within the state of Washington have just $11 million that they...
