Goldendale graduates, past or present, can receive scholarship through KVET


Passion for education: Retired school teacher, the late Pearl Shepard, designated more than $600,000 to the KVET in her will.

If you ask almost any college student, they will tell you the one thing they need is money, either for tuition, books, or a roof over their head; usually their food is covered by cases of Top Ramen, coffee, and water.

A local organization is working toward providing Goldendale High School graduates, no matter their current age, with scholarship money to cover most, if not all, of the costs of college. The idea for this trust came from a will of a local resident reading, “On this date, the thirteenth of December, 1870, I, Joshua Brown, a settler in Goodnoe Hills, give and bequeath all my property or the cash value thereof…so as to constitute an irreducible school fund for the children...
