Risheim and Cameron shine in sprints at track home opener

HOME POINTS: Kenner Milliren tied for the win in the high jump.

It seemed a long time coming, but Goldendale’s track and field team finally saw some action with a pair of meets last week. The annual Simcoe/Thompson Invitational had to be cancelled but a small meet against SCAC opponents from Cle Elum-Roslyn and Granger was held in Goldendale on Tuesday and the team took on a large contingent in Stanfield, Ore., on Friday.

Briley Cameron and Billie Jo Risheim had mirror image finishes in the sprints on Tuesday, winning the 200 meter races and finishing second in the 100. Both sprinters turned in times less than a second off their PRs for both races. Cameron’s 11.66 in the 100 was just 0.02 seconds off his record.
