Centerville child injured in riding accident

A young Centerville girl was injured Sunday while riding her horse at home.

According to family friends, the girl’s horse got its legs caught in the reins, was spooked, and bucked. The horse fell over backwards with the girl still on.

The four-year-old girl suffered a broken femur and left arm but was wearing a helmet that shattered during the incident. She was taken to Klickitat Valley Hospital, and then LifeFlight flew her to Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital in Portland.

Monday morning she underwent surgery, sources say, with a quick recovery expected.
