Food drive brings in 5,000 pounds of food

The Goldendale Post Office received overwhelming support for its annual food drive from Goldendale and Centerville, held on May 12.

Letter carriers collected approximately 5,000 pounds of non-perishable food items which were delivered to the community food banks.

“All of the clerks and carriers worked on this project and are to be commended for going above and beyond their normal duties to deliver food drive notices and bags and then to collect donations,” said Postmaster Jim Hamilton. “A special thank you to the carriers who worked on Saturday to collect the food donations, most of whom had to make several trips back to the post office to unload.”
