Alvin John Hughes



Alvin John Hughes of Goldendale, WA passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at his son Matt’s home in Arlington, OR at the age of 75.

He was born in Oswego, Oregon, October 24, 1936, the oldest of three children born to Kenneth and Lenna Hughes.

Mr. Hughes served in the U.S. Army at the Presidio from 1956 to 1958, was a journeyman plumber for 40 years, and an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Portland Antique Outboard Motor Club.

He was preceded in death by a son, his mother, father and brother, Wayne Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Eakin) Hughes of Goldendale, WA; brother, Leon and wife Dee of Salem, OR; children, Neil Allen and wife Karen of Bellevue, WA; Kathleen Cross and husband Jeff of Eureka, CA; Kara Hughes of Eureka, CA; Beth Hughes of San Antonio, TX; Mark Hughes and wife Cheryl of Louisville, KY; and Matt Hughes and wife Carmela of Arlington, OR; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held in Arlington, OR, on Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at the Eightmile Cemetery. A reception will follow at 18382 Stone Lane, Arlington, OR.
